Our center Happy Surfpool is situated in Playa El Yaque, a small town on the island of Margarita just 40 km off the coast of the Venezuela mainland. We are on the beach with the best launch site right in front of us.
The tradewinds are already blowing 10 to 15 knots in the morning. During the afternoon the local thermals push the wind up to 20 to 25 sometimes even 35 knots. The wind always blows from the sideshore left. There is a shallow area for the first 150 meters providing the perfect freeride and freestyle spot in. In the shallow area you are able to practice everything from Beachstart to Frontloops. Further outside there are nice little waves up to 1.5 meters.
El Yaque is less than 15 minutes away from Porlamar airport. There are direct flights from the US , Canada, Germany, Holland, Denmark, England and South America.
During the last years El Yaque grew from a small windsurfer village to one of the best known windsurfing sites in the world. Now there are around 12 hotels, different windsurfingcenters, about 15 restaurants, beach bars, and of course Los Surf Piratas Bar. The food is international from seafood, italian, venezuelan and different barbeques. In most hotels you find internet access and the possibility to make international phonecalls.
